I myself have asked many people for help before, people like Horselips, Rids, Hillrunner, Buzzzz, Javajones, etc... there is countless people i have asked for help for, some have helped me, some havent. I have myself learned alot (not everything) from them. But it still hasnt been easy, its easy to copy and paste numbers from one terragen to another, or to just open the files and hit render, but its quite another to figure out why said number does what it does, and to figure out what effects what, and why it looks like that.
I know this is something i myself am still struggling with, but while it has been hard and VERY frustrating, constant persistance pays off eventually. So ask away, and hopefully you will get more helpful tips, hints and resources then those who wont reply back to ya

2. When using 3d clouds, if you want normal cumulus clouds, make your cloud height no greater than 3.
3. When composing your image, use the Rule of Thirds. Divide your picture into thirds, and put your point of interest on one of the lines or intersections. Put the skyline on one line, for example, two thirds of the way up, or if your major point is your sky, put the skyline one third of the way up. Exceptions: pictures in which the sun is a focus, for example.
4. To blend your surface better, use a low fractal noise setting in the advanced distribution section of one of the children.
5. In your surface, add children that are similar (but not the same) in color for more realism.
6. Vary your bumpiness in your surface.
7. When making a sandy beach, add a wet sand layer. To tell where it will appear, make it a really weird color to begin with.
8. Don't use a sharp setting on slope. Make it a little bit fuzzy, for more realism.
9. If it doesn't darken your landscape too much, use clouds cast shadows. If you still want to use it, lighten your shadows.
Hope this helps.

if you wanna make landscapes where the sun is the focus do not center the sun in the midle of the picture try to make it of to the right or left to get a better effect
and for water what is a problem for most people i use always these settings

As to the pov.... I'm still experimenting with that at this stage. My last render was banked at an angle, so I'm thinking my next one will be baned even more extremely, just for fun. All I can recommend in that regard is don't be afraid to go wild, such ramping the height above surface up to 400 or down to 5. Sometimes you never know how good something might look if you play with the numbers.
Well, it's back to work for me.
